Hail Britannia for Maxine Peake! The British beauty trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London before scoring a regular role on the drama series Children’s Ward (1995). After that, the boob-tube provided her with plenty of guest spots on Hetty Wainthropp Investigates (1996), Picking up the Pieces (1998), Coronation Street (1999), Jonathan Creek (1999), Clocking Off (2000), Linda Green (2001), and more. In addition to having recurring roles on the comedy shows Dinnerladies (1998-2000) and Early Doors (2003), the pixie-faced performer appeared in the limited series The Way We Live Now (2001), Messiah: The Harrowing (2005), and See No Evil: The Moors Murders (2006). Yet she didn’t make it big until she was cast as Va-Va-Veronica in the hit series Shameless (2004-2007), wherein she flashed her funbags!
